Battle by Jasmine Coles

8pm Colony Ballroom

Four friends—each a master of a hip-hop fundamental—prepare for the battle that will take place in two days. Cedric, Malik, Victor, and Rex work through personal issues and individual confrontations before their big night.
Cedric is well known throughout the community as DJ, and even though he lost the battle the previous year to his longtime rival Leo, he’s ready to take back his title. He’s focused despite his recent break-up with his girlfriend Kelly that is until rumors start to spread that she’s dating Leo. The Battle is on.
Malik is the master emcee, torn between being a high school graduate and an artist. As he weighs his decision, Big Petey, his arch nemesis, has been at all the hottest spots, talking trash and swearing to bring Malik’s reign to an end. The Battle is on.
Every night Victor tags the city with his name and his bright colors. His world is turned upside down when an anonymous artists begins to deface his work. Taking it personal, Victor embarks on a mission to find the mystery person responsible for destroying his work. The Battle is on.
Finally Rex claims to be the best street dancer to walk the face of the planet. Expecting to win the battle with no contest, Rex and his crew are surprised when Rex’s sister Regina and her crew enter the competition. The Battle is on.
