Our society is filled with young, talented, and ambitious inner city youth who are filled with insecurities and low self esteem; due to the fear of negative and public scrutiny.
JAMM Performing Arts Company is an organization that reaches out to these youth within the inner city through workshops, seminars, productions and after school programs. Youth involved with these programs have experienced tremendous success and transformation in school and their community.
JAMM specializes in equipping the youth with character development and arts training programs; which empowers and educates the youth about the entertainment industry.
On the surface the company is seen as an organization dedicated to the development of unique dance and theater; but the underlying dedication to and among the members is much deeper than can be distinguished initially.
JAMM Performing Arts Company has created an atmosphere where the arts are merely a tool to the road of security, self-expression, character building and therapy for the youth.
JAMM encourages the challenge of funneling internal emotion, transforming it into a creative movement of expression for the audience to acknowledge and appreciate.
JAMM continues to be a catalyst in discovering the use of movements to collectively express internal emotions in a positive and innovative way.
JAMM has several divisions:
1. GODCORE MOVEMENT, founded in summer 2004. This movement hosts several intensive dance clinics throughout California and Virginia.
2.Talent Development Program, this includes: enlightening, training and empowering teens about the entertainment industry. Interns have had the opportunity to gain exposure in several independent films, commercials and theatrical productions.
3. Youth Programming and Consultant division, which provides intense workshops on how to build, grow, and sustain effective programs for youth and students for the following personnel: youth ministry, leaders and workers, pastors and community leaders, school administrators and teachers.
AMEN:
Formed in 2005, AMEN is the brainchild of sisters, Ashlea and Abrea Hayes. After watching many other dance ministries and mime troupes, the sisters decided to create their own dance ministry which incorporated both mime and dance. Choreography was a process of trial and error for AMEN, until in January of 2006 they began studying under Joey Alleyne (CEO and founder of J.A.M.M.). While under Alleyne's instruction, AMEN were able to learn the fundamentals of mime ministry, the importance of meditation, and how to take responsibility for their gift. Now, armed with a different approach to choreography and ministry, AMEN continues to dance wherever they are called, and use their gift of dance to glorify God to the best of their ability, solely foucusing on dancing for an audience of One.
