Identity Crisis - Weekly Bible Study
Every week, roughly 50-80 students meet in the North Campus Dining Hall to delve into the Word of God and talk about germane issues in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Members of Alpha Nu Omega and other campus Christian organizations provide students with relevant and applicable lessons that an be used in everyday life. This semester's theme, "Identity Crisis," is based off of II Corinthians 5:17.

Bible study takes place for the Spring 2008 semester every Tuesday at 8:00pm in the North Campus Diner, TV Room.

Gospel Happy Hour
This is a monthly event, co-sponsored with the Nyumburu Cultural Center, that features artists from UMCP and across the DC Metropolitan Area. In a candle-lit, chill atmosphere, students and faculty enjoy live music and experience the hottest local poets, lyricists, music groups, and dance ministries DC area.

Kappa chapter put on the its first Block Party in the spring of 2007. This event, meant to minister to the campus and community through music, featured six local bands including A Cross Life, Peculiar People, Maryland Gospel Choir, Mason Summers, Chris Kim, and ExTol. Approximately 200 students attended this event which also served as a Christian alternative to a party that was taking place at the same time on campus.

Blood Drive
"A blood donor saved my life," an inspirational quote written on a t-shirt. This shirt spoke about Jesus' sacrifice for us and serves as constant inspiration for ANΩ. Every February we co-sponsor a blood drive with Donors for Life on campus. ANΩ attempts to get donations from at least 50 people, allowing us to gather at least 50 pints of blood. Each pint of blood can save up to three lives!

The Spring 2008 Blood Drive will take place on 2.27.08 from 10am - 4pm in the Prince George's Room of the Stamp Student Union. Check it out on facebook!

Midnite Ice
This is by far one of the most fun events on campus. Each year hundreds of people meet us for this annual ice skating party! Students glide (or tumble) across the ice while dancing to classic Christmas songs and other oldies hits. The Electric Slide and soul train line on ice are always the anticipated features of the night.

Midnite Ice will take place on 12.8.07 at 10pm at the Herbert Wells Ice Rink. Buses will pick students up at LaPlata hall throughout the night! Check it out on facebook!

Sorority Events
Love in Action Week
Envisioned in 2000 by Kappa Sorority charter members, Love in Action week has been a staple sorority program for seven years now. The program focuses on raising awareness regarding homelessness in the area and provides the campus with opportunities to give back. Held in conjunction with National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, Love in Action this year focused on helping homeless children. Students participated in an information session, book drive, and the Fannie Mae Foundation Help the Homeless Walkathon.

Women's Wellness
In the spring of 2006 Kappa Chapter sorority began its newest annual program, "Women's Wellness." This program aimed at providing young women with information about health, fitness, and everyday issues. Young women were able to talk with experts about different issues and left with valuable information that they were able to apply to their daily lives. Each year, the program takes a different spin.
Ladies Nite Out
Sometimes you want to get off campus and have some fun! So every year the sorority coordinates 'Ladies Night Out,' where women are invited to join the sisters for a night out on the town. Respecting the average college student's budget, activities are planned to cost under $20.

Join ANΩ Sorority for our Ladies Nite Out Ice Skating event on December 1st 2007 @ 8pm at the Sculpture Garden Ice Rink! Check it out on facebook!

Fraternity Events
Fatherless Generation
Fatherless Generation is a panel discussion that addressed both the problem of a lack of fathers in the Black community and possible solutions to this problem. The panel consisted of prominent youth workers and mentors in our local community. At the conclusion of the program we decided that a good short-term solution could be achieved through mentorship programs.
Pull Your Pants Up
Pull Your Pants Up was the highly anticipated sequel to the spring 2007 semester's Caught Witcha Pants Down event. We invited Minister Carl and Lori McLaughlin to speak again about Christian dating and relationships. It was a fun informative session where the McLaughlin's stayed very down to earth about the topics of dating, sex, temptation, and purity. They handed out a few documents to help remind young men and women about how precious they are to God, and ways to stay strong during your walk as a Christian.

Turf -N- Talk
The sun was high, the determination was evident, and the pig skin was flying. We hooked up with some brothers of Pi Delta Psi to play a good friendly game of Flag Football. After a couple of hours we came together as brothers to discuss Michael Vick and the recent allegations against him. Turf -N- Talk serves as a way to facilitate bonds with some of the students on UMD's campus, discuss important issues to our daily lives, and play some football!
